Manager, Sports Content


Sportfive is seeking a Manager, Sports Content to execute elements of the Sports Events Procurement and Community Sports Plans for Kai Tak Sports Park, Hong Kong (KTSP,, which is scheduled to open in 2023.

This role has a heavy planning, coordination and operations focus, to ensure that all planned Sports Event Procurement and Community Sports activities are delivered to a high standard and that the project achieves or exceeds its KPIs.
The individual will report to the Director, Sports Content.

Sports Event Procurement
·  Assist in the execution of the Sports Event Procurement plan, including
o Develop a deep understanding of the global and local Sports Events calendar and commercial model of events;
o Research, evaluate and report on possible sports events for KTSP, including possible events that KTSP could own;
o Support the day to day liaison with National Sports Associations and local promoters who have active Sports Event procurement discussions with KTSP;
o Work with the Venues Team on ensuring that KTSP venues meet event related venue requirements;
o Prepare and support event bids and event grant applications
o Administer the Sports Event Support Scheme;
·  Track all Sports Event Procurement services related KPIs against actual performance, flag any potential gaps to management and suggest remedies;
·  Prepare the Monthly Events Booking Report; and
·  Event management and operation, when KTSP is the owner of the event.

Community Sports
·  Assist in the execution of the Community Sports plan, including
o Support the development of the Sports Programmes and Community Casual Hire plans, including
§ Sports Programmes - content development, scheduling, identifying and securing community sports content providers, pricing packages, etc
§ Community Casual Hire – defining bookable inventory, pricing packages, booking and usage policies, etc
o Work with the Venue Operations team to define the venues preparation process so that venues are setup appropriately and in a timely manner;
o Support the development and launch of the
§ Booking System, including defining requirements, system testing, defect resolution and roll out processes;
§ KTSP General Membership Programme, a customer loyalty programme;
o Work with the Marketing Team to run Community Sports marketing campaigns to drive revenue and participation levels;
o Track all Community Sports services related KPIs against actual performance and suggest a cause of action to address any gaps in performance in a timely manner;
o Generate and disseminate high quality progress and evaluation reports;
o  Prepare monthly Community Sports services reports; and
o Implementation of a continual improvement process relating to Community Sports services.

The responsibilities of this role will adjust over time, as the KTSP Sports Content team composition changes once KTSP moves from the design and build phases into the operational phase.


Qualifications and Experience

 ·   Bachelor’s degree in venue management, hospitality, event management, business or related fields;

·   At least 4 years of related professional experience in

o  Sport event bidding, venue booking sales, sports events management and operations, sports related government relations including sport event government grants and other related areas; and/or

o  Managing the delivery of content in a sports focused venue, such as in a sports club, country club, fitness gym, etc;

·   A positive, customer centric attitude and dynamic approach, with the ability to adapt to change;

·   Ability to manage multiple tasks and build relationships with a diverse range of people;

·   Strong attention to detail and thorough planning and organisational skills;

·   Proven ability to work in a high-pressured environment, with competing priorities, stakeholders and deadlines;

·   Skills in Microsoft programs (word, excel, powerpoint), Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, customer registration and loyalty programmes IT systems, social media platform management, etc;

·   Fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin; and

·   A big plus - Passionate about sports.

Working hours

Typical office working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm. Additional morning/evening and weekend hours will be required in accordance with the Sports Events, Sports Programmes and Community Casual Hire calendar.
